TERMS AND CONDITIONS. CUENCA SHORT FILM FESTIVAL FICCión-20, 2nd EDITION 2017.
1. Participation
In this festival may participate any producer or filmmaker of Short Films, all around the world, regardless of age.
The festival will take place in Cuenca from November 13th to 18th, 2017.
2. Terms
Each participant may submit a maximum of two works, that must have been produced after January 1st, 2015.
The duration of each film can not exceed 20 minutes.
Those films that could not be viewed or projected properly will be disqualified.
The festival organization assumes that the authors own the rights over the works and material submitted and disclaims any responsibility for the infringement of this policy.
The works will be presented in its original version. Those that are not in Spanish, should be submitted with the corresponding Spanish subtitles to be projected at the festival, otherwise the film will be disqualified.
Subtitles will be attached as a separate file on .SRT compatible format.
3. Registration
The registration will be open from August 25th 2017 to October 6th 2017. Registrations must be made online, through the platforms enabled on the FICTION-20 festival website.
Those short films sent by mail or courier service will not be accepted.
When registering the work, will be required a series of data that make up the registration form. All the participants must attach 2 frames of the film, poster and director National Identity Card number *

Registration is free. But there may be charges on those platforms outside the festival that establish cost to spread the work by them.
We recommend to review the particular conditions of each platform and the rights and contractual relationships with its users.
The one who does the online registration will be considered the ultimate Responsibility of the short film for all legal effects and of participation.
Participants authorize the organizers to use extracts of the short films for broadcast in any media, in order to promote the festival, as well as to use frames of the films as advertising in the press and other media.
4. Selection of short films
Among all the short films received, the organizers will select those that meet quality standards required.
The result of the selection will be announced on November 12th 2017, and will be notified to each applicant by email.
The selection committee's decision will not be open to appeal.
The selected films must be sent to the organizers before June 20th, 2016, with the right quality for a correct viewing on screen according to the following standards:
· Codec: H.264
· Resolution: 1920 x 1080 or variants maintaining the width of 1920
· Fps: 25p
· Format: .mp4 or .mov
Selected short films will be shown in different places of the old town of Cuenca on days 21st to 28ht and 4ht to 11ht of November, 2017. The places will be listed in the official program of the FICTION-20 Festival as well as on the website.
The public will vote for the Best Short Film by a ballot paper that will be available after each screening session. The public decision will not be open to appeal.
5. Jury
The official jury, composed by professionals of the film industry and culture, will be in charge of awarding the prizes.
The jury may declare a prize null and void for lack of quality or lack of work submitted. The Jury may award second and third prizes ex-aequo, in which case the prize money will be divided into equal parts. Jury decisions will not be open to appeal.
6. Prizes
The awards will be delivered the day of the Awards Ceremony in the Church of San Miguel, located in the old town of Cuenca, on November 18th, 2017.
The acceptance of prizes must be made by the author or productor, or the person in whom delegate and represent them.
All of the nominees will receive a diploma.
During the Awards Ceremony and after viewing all selected short films, all the winners will be presented with a statuette created for the occasion and will be economically endowed under the following categories:
- Best Short Film. Statuette and 500 €
- Rothus Audience Award for Best Short Film. Statuette and 300 €
- Best short film shot in Castilla-La Mancha. Statuette and 300 €
- Best Screenplay. Statuette and gift.
- Best Photography. Statuette and gift.
- Best Original Soundtrack. Statuette and gift.
- Best Performance. Statuette and gift.
- Best Director. Statuette and gift.
The prizes awarded by the jury and the public are cumulative. All accepted short films compete for the Audience Award.
7. Acceptance of terms
Registration implies acceptance of the terms and regulations for the competition as well as the decisions of the organization, the selection committee and the jury of the festival. Any matter not contemplated in terms will be resolved by the organization FICTION-20.
8. General Conditions
Copies of the not selected short films will become part of the audiovisual archive of the festival, and may be used, after notifying the author, for exhibition in parallel acts.
The authors of short films authorise the festival to use a fragment of the film (maximum three minutes), as advertising material in any media, including the Internet.
The date and place may be changed by the organisation, communicating it to the participants with sufficient time in advance.
The organisers reserves the right to change some of these terms and to interpreting them in case of doubt. Decisions taken by the organisers are not open to appeal.
If the festival were delayed or canceled for reasons beyond the organizers, participants would not entitled to any compensation, but his work would compete as soon as festival were celebrated.
Participation in this festival implies acceptance of these rules.
* # NOTE. Those films competing for the Best Short Film Shot in Castilla-La Mancha prize will have to noted it in the "comments" field of the registration form, providing the information that consider relevant to its correct assessment by the jury. However, the organizers may request additional information for a proper evaluation, as the corresponding certification of shooting.
